Worker Health Dept: Starting February 22nd, Occupational Health and Safety officials will visit workplaces throughout the province, ensuring practices are up to standard. Among elements that will be checked: worker training, supervision and maintenance of equipment, according to CTV. Those behind the ramped-up inspection efforts say they're responding to a number of work-related deaths and injuries that involved forklifts and other pieces of equipment in the past few years and in an effort to reduce on-the-job injuries and fatalities, the Alberta government is set to launch the first of three safety campaigns next week, with inspectors targeting sites that use forklifts and other powered mobile equipment. "If necessary, my officers will issue stop-use orders on the machinery or even stop-work orders for the site," said Thomas Lukaszuk, minister of Employment and Immigration, of the initiative. "There is no excuse for worker health and safety to be at risk." As
