Victor Avila: Drug Cartels

Calgary Herald Dept: Immigration and Customs Enforcement ICE agent Jaime Zapata and his partner Victor Avila came under fire Tuesday while driving north from Mexico City toward Monterrey in a region plagued by drug violence, according to Calgary Herald. The drug cartels suspected of carrying out the attack "have changed the rules of the game," said U.S. Representative Michael McCaul, a Republican from Texas who attended a closed-door briefing by ICE officials on the shooting and the shooting of two U.S. federal agents in northern Mexico this week has led to calls by American lawmakers to rethink the joint strategy to fight drug trafficking along the increasingly violent border. Zapata was killed and Avila was wounded.
