Le Journal De Montreal Dept: Such a party would set aside sovereignty and focus on the economy, health and education, according to Montreal Gazette. The mere presence of this kind of party prior to the election which doesn't have to be called before late 2013 could be enough to loosen the two main parties' stranglehold on the island -with the federalist Liberals paying the island scant attention because they have most of their voters locked up and the sovereignists equally inattentive because they know they can write off most of the electorate in advance and former Parti Quebecois minister Francois Legault hasn't even formally proposed a new provincial party composed of sovereignists and federalists -he's simply said he's thinking of it. Still, that's enough for a Leger poll in Le Journal de Montreal to put the hypothetical party's public support at 30 per cent, ahead of both the PQ 27 per cent and the Quebec Liberal Party 25 per cent . Montreal islanders could be among the immediate beneficiaries. They'd feel the advantages even if the party didn't win the next provincial election. As
