John Jefkins and Bert Reg

Bert: One hundred years after his father left England as a Barnardo boy, Jefkins has returned to reunite with family he never knew existed, according to Toronto Star. Jefkins has long known that his father Bert and his uncle Reg were dropped off at a Barnardo Home in 1914 by a family that saw no other way to care for their little boys. His son John Jefkins has been going through the photo albums lately, preparing for a homecoming of sorts. Like 100,000 others, Bert and Reg were sent to Canada to work as indentured servants. While Bert would stay at this farm, Reg did not get along with the farmer and was moved to another farm after a few years. Bert, holding the flowers, and likely his brother Reg sitting in the chair, on a farm in Orillia, not long after they arrived in Canada as home children. (www.immigrantscanada.com).
