People came here and wanted to be part of Canadian life and then they were put in jail and sent home, says Cecil Reid, one of the events organizers. He not only encouraged people to come to Toronto, he also worked to get domestics into Canada so they could work for a year before obtaining permanent residency and Twenty years after his death, Donald Willard Moore still impresses. Moore, who died in 1994 at 102, and the 60th anniversary of that trip, will be celebrated Sunday with a public service at St. Peters Anglican Church in Scarborough.
