Combat Mission: Kandahar

Interpreters Dept: The minister told The Canadian Press that the application process ended July 6 just as Canadian troops completed their combat mission there, according to CTV. Earlier this year it was estimated that only about 60 translators had arrived for their new life in Canada and kenney originally announced the program a couple of years ago to help Afghans who face what he called "extraordinary personal risk" by working with Canadians in Kandahar. Kenney says he expects 550 interpreters will be approved under the program and will arrive in Canada in the next few months. As reported in the news.
