Fire Damage Dept: "We had this fire during the day. We were able to get out and nobody lost their life," resident Joyce Hahnekamp said. "Possessions come and possessions go.", according to CBC. "The severity of the fire, as you can see, claimed two-thirds of the roof, and the third-floor suites were severely damaged ... a couple of suites on the second floor also experienced excessive fire damage," Whitecourt fire chief Bill Graham said and residents of a Whitecourt apartment building were allowed to return to their suites Friday to retrieve some of the personal items that weren't destroyed in Thursday's fire. Fire broke out at the Valley Apartments at 4507 51st Avenue just before 7 p.m. Thursday. About 30 firefighters were able to get the fire under control within 40 minutes but were putting out hotspots well into Friday morning. As
reported in the news.
