Police Statement: Machinists

Welders Dept: The alleged immigration scam involved bringing 60 Polish and Ukrainian welders and machinists into Canada as students starting in December 2005 and then subcontracting them out to companies in Alberta, according to Montreal Gazette. "Investigators allege that Kihew placed ads in a Polish newspaper and a website to recruit European welders and machinists to come to work in Canada," said a police statement and police on Friday charged a Ukrainian Orthodox priest, his wife and another man with illegally recruiting foreign workers and skimming at least $1 million from their wages. The RCMP said the three shareholders of Kihew Energy Services pocketed more than $1 million, or about half of the workers' wages, in just six months. As reported in the news.
