Election Night Dept: 1. The F word, bandied about incessantly during the campaign, according to Globe And Mail. Well, hold the triumph, because the “family” of 2011 in Canada is vastly different from any 1950s domestic idyll that the far right may dream of. We’re not going back to 1950, and no modern leader or party can take us back and here is some of what I will take away from this election: You know, “family.” The Liberals had their “family pack,” the NDP were “fighting for the family,” Mr. Harper thanked his children emotionally on election night, telling them that while he was off working hard for “other families,” his own kids were never far from his heart. And the next day, a Christian evangelical leader put out a triumphant statement saying that Canada had elected a government that supported “the family.” As
reported in the news.
