Before that, he served in provincial politics in Ontario, according to Vancouver Sun. "I'll be fighting hard for things like freedom, things like democracy, things like human rights, the rule of law." After more than a decade immersed in domestic politics, John Baird is being thrust onto the international stage as foreign affairs minister, raising questions about whether the "pit bull" of Parliament is the best choice to rehabilitate Canada's image abroad.
