Calgary Herald Dept: The less charitable view is that Harper is a dead fish, an emotionless iceman incapable of reaction. This is a tad unfair, for surely a heart beats somewhere within -although even we question if the man has sweat glands, according to Calgary Herald. Harper faltered a bit in the French debate, with one poll showing he lost some support. A sizable number of those surveyed, 47 per cent, said their opinion of Harper had fallen as a result of his performance and with opposition leaders again failing to get under Stephen Harper's skin during Wednesday night's French-language leaders' debate, the embattled Conservative leader emerged from both of this week's TV encounters as the most "prime ministerial" of the candidates. In the English debate, Harper never flinched in the face of his party's contempt of Parliament citation or criticisms of the Conservatives' questionable spending of millions of taxpayer dollars in Ontario cottage country during last year's G8 summit. Try as they did, Michael Ignatieff, Jack Layton and Gilles Duceppe simply could not rattle him. As
reported in the news.
