French Theatre Dept: The production will still feature music written by rocker Bertrand Cantat, but Cantat will not appear in the production of Des Femmes, Mouawad said Monday, according to Montreal Gazette. The version to be presented at the National Arts Centre in May 2012 will "radically draw attention to the absence" of Cantat from the production, according to Mouawad and a revised version of the play that was to feature a notorious French rock star jailed for killing his girlfriend will go ahead at the National Arts Centre and at Th tre du Nouveau Monde in Montreal next year, says Wajdi Mouawad, the play's director and the artistic director of the NAC's French theatre. However, Cantat will appear in productions of Des Femmes planned for outside Canada, and Mouawad suggested that the Canadian version of the play will in some way show support for Cantat.
