Komagata Maru Incident Of 1914: Vancouver Park Board

Komagata Maru Incident Dept: The monument will be installed in Harbour Green Park along Burrard Inlet, where the ill-fated ship carrying 376 people from India was moored for two months, according to Vancouver Sun. The monument, proposed by the Khalsa Diwan Society, is being funded through the Historical Recognition Program of Citizenship and Immigration Canada. Immigration and Multiculturalism Minister Jason Kenney pledged $82,500 to the Khalsa Diwan Society for the monument in December and the Vancouver park board accepted on Monday the donation of a monument commemorating the Komagata Maru incident of 1914. "The Harbour Green Park site was chosen because the boat was anchored about a kilometre off the shore at Burrard Inlet," said park board communications coordinator Daria Wojnarski. As reported in the news.
