Victor Morales Dept: This is not, as his lawyer Stewart Istvanffy states, a question of a "draconian, anti-immigrant bias in our immigration system." It is a question of criminal activity and the laws surrounding permanent residence status, according to Montreal Gazette. Morales claims he earns $25,000 a year and yet has never filed tax returns. While his salary is similar to my mother's, she has been paying her taxes, contributing to our health-care system, etc. My family members have never been arrested, have always been involved in the church, and have been model citizens. Deporting them would be xenophobic and i am disgusted that the Victor Morales deportation case is being considered xenophobia and by the ruling that he should not be deported. I am glad for Morales that he has changed his life around, but poor choices sometimes lead to consequences we don't like. My family came to Canada without speaking either official language. My sister, like Morales, was 7 years old when she arrived. But instead of turning to criminal activity, she is now a teacher, giving back to our society. My mother is 64 years old and she is still cleaning hotel rooms because she proudly wants to reach retirement at 65. As
reported in the news.
