Immigration: Tyrone Benskin

Rousing Speech Dept: "There is no area in Quebec that has been traditionally an NDP stronghold," Layton acknowledged following a rousing speech delivered to about 100 supporters gathered in a small restaurant on Ste. Hubert St. "It used to be that the NDP would run students in most of these ridings, but you don't see that anymore. You see strong campaigns, people with roots in their communities. We're putting together the best team of candidates in Quebec that this party has ever presented.", according to Montreal Gazette. The fresh crop of candidates announced yesterday includes Maria Ximena Flores in Saint-Laurent-Cartierville, Helene Leblanc in Lasalle-Emard, Pauline Ayala in Honore-Mercier and Marcos Tejada in Papineau and nDP leader Jack Layton was all smiles last night as he introduced four new federal candidates for ridings in Montreal, and maintained he's confident his party can make inroads in the province in the next federal election. That team has been unveiled slowly over the past few months, and has included such names as Tyrone Benskin, a Montreal actor who will represent the NDP in the riding of Jeanne-Le Ber. As reported in the news.
