Calgary Herald Dept: I wholeheartedly agree with your excellent and courageous editorial, which is one of the few voices of support, according to Calgary Herald. Successive governments have justified mass immigration by pointing to our aging population and declining birth rates. They claimed we required a younger workforce to support those going on pension and to maintain population growth and re: "Cutting back on elderly immigrants makes sense," Editorial, Feb. 21. These are tough economic times and Canada needs to add immigrants who will contribute financially, not be a further drain. From a purely compassionate and political standpoint, continuing with high family reunification numbers would be the easy way. Economically, it simply is not a sound principle. As
