Cambie Street Dept: While Metro Vancouver's growing Chinese community has seen increasing numbers of family visitors coming to the region for their annual New Year's gatherings in recent years, Yin has also seen a rise in the number of tourists contacting him this year, the first Chinese New Year with Canada under approved destination status with China, according to Vancouver Sun. He estimates that side of his inbound travel business is up 20 per cent from last year, with tourist visitors seeking accommodation, group tours and hospitality and with a community preparing for traditional Chinese New Year banquets and dragon parades, Tony Yin noticed a new trend at his Cambie Street travel agency: New Year's tourism. "For family gatherings, I don't think this year is different from last year," Yin, owner of 5 Stars Travel said in an interview. "But tourists are a totally different picture from last year."
