Immigration Canada Dept: Faried Salem Ibrahim, 31, who pleaded guilty on Monday along with Richard Otto Devera, 30, to assault causing bodily harm and unlawful confinement in the attack on Robert Perron in March 2006, is expected to be handed a sentence of two years less a day with time served, according to Calgary Herald. Both men had been convicted and sentenced by Court of Queen's Bench Justice Patrick Sullivan three years ago to 14 years in prison, but earlier this year won a new trial on appeal and o ne of two men who admitted to the videotaped torture and confinement of a landlord may be ordered released from prison today, but still faces deportation to his native Iraq. However, Crown prosecutor Shane Parker said Immigration Canada will be stepping in as soon as he is released from custody. As reported in the news.
