Good Weather Dept: Throughout this magnificent summer of 2010, there has been such a place -the pier at the bottom of 32nd Ave. in Lachine. Every summer, the pier attracts plenty of local fishing enthusiasts. But the numbers turning out this summer have been extraordinary, so much so that the weekly Lachine Messenger has declared the increase to be a serious news story, according to Montreal Gazette. which is mostly one long linear park and no summer winds down without stories of summer romance to reveal. Usually, they involve one person and another person. But every once in while, the plot line resolves around an outpouring of public affection for a particular place. That, in turn, has raised questions as to why. Some people say it's just the good weather. Others point to the growth in the number of anglers of Oriental origin, and say it's a product of recent immigration trends.
