Neighbourhood: Party and Porch

neighbourhood: I'm thinking of instances such as last weekend's Chequegnat Festival, a backyard community event ... hosted by five homes in Kitchener's Central Frederick neighbourhood, according to Hamilton Spectator. Two weeks ago, Central Frederick hosted the Hohner Avenue Porch Party, the first of four musical events centred on front porches happening in the region. Increasingly, Waterloo Region's neighbourhoods have become hosts for some great cultural events. The original, the Grand Porch Party, returns to the Uptown West neighbourhood in Waterloo tomorrow from 2 to 5 p.m. The Schneider Creek Porch Party in the Cedar Hill area of Kitchener's Mill-Courtland Neighbourhood takes place July 22; the Preston Porch Party in Cambridge happens Aug. 26. The second Sunday in June is Canadian Rivers Day, part of the founding purpose of this event, which is now in its seventh year, was to give some love to our Grand River Watershed.
