Courtesy of Carlyn Moulton By Noor Javed News reporter Sun., Nov. 27, 2016 When residents of Prince Edward County came together to sponsor a Syrian refugee family last fall, they had little idea what the year would bring. It began with the arrival in October 2015 of the Al Jasem family, an enormous clan of 14 parents, a grandmother and 11 kids, including two sets of twins. Twelve months later, residents of the picturesque rural county near Belleville say the effort, which will eventually see seven families from wartorn Syria settled in and around the area, has been filled with ups and downs, but that it achieved the unexpected goal of bringing the whole community together.
