mass deportations: Site traffic on Tuesday night rose dramatically as it became clear that Donald Trump had a good chance of winning the presidency, according to Hamilton Spectator. A number of U.S. citizens have said they may consider applying to move to Canada if Trump follows through on proposed policies such as mass deportations of illegal immigrants or the reopening of international trade agreements. Late-night traffic to the immigration website from Americans was about five times higher than usual on Tuesday, spokesperson Sonia Lesage said. Immigration lawyers have warned, however, that the process to move to Canada can be long and complex and may cause a number of potential U.S. emigrants to reconsider their plans to move north once they learn more. Lesage said a significant increase in web traffic and technical difficulties was found to be behind Tuesday site crash. The site crashed late Tuesday night and remained down until shortly before 8 30 a.m. on Wednesday.
