: Already by 2014, according to the Conference Board of Canada Metro Outlook Report, Halifax placed seventh on its list of the nation 13 largest cities, according to The Chronicle Herald. But by 2015 it had advanced to fourth, and is projected to become the second fastest in 2016, behind only Vancouver. They city business community has taken up the challenge with vigour. In order to recognize those businesses promoting growth, and to encourage others to follow suit, the Chamber launched its Growth Champion program in the fall of 2015. For us to become one of the top three growth cities in Canada, Halifax needs to be a more competitive city, said Chamber President and CEO Valerie Payn. This program highlights the drivers of Halifax econ-omic growth engine which have met one of the Chamber three criteria: the hiring of a recent graduate, the hiring of a Canadian immigrant, or an investment in continuing education within their organization.
