: She is the voice of Advocate Harbour Syrian refugees, but Khaldie Mohamad stays in the background, telling other people stories, according to CBC. But her own story, and the reasons she helps others, is just as remarkable. "I'm doing this because I know how they feel because I went through all this when I first came to Canada. Follow our coverage on our website and on CBC Radio Information Morning. I didn't know the language, I didn't get any help from anybody," she said. She now lives in Sackville, N.B., where her family runs a smoke shop. Mohamad arrived in Ottawa 24 years ago from Lebanon, along with her three children.
