Atlantic Canadian cities: Moncton ranked first among Atlantic Canadian cities with 1.3 per cent growth, according to The Chronicle Herald. Halifax is pretty average, said Stats Can analyst François Sergerie. Statistics Canada reported Halifax was 17th on the metropolitan area growth list, based on July 2015 figures. One big reason for the number is international migration, which was up 0.5 per cent during that year. Yes, people leave for Alberta, but many from P.E.I. or New Brunswick come here. Another big one was interprovincial migration.
