Linda Murray: According to Baby Center, names tend to maintain popularity for three to five years, according to Huffington Post Canada. It takes a little time to wake up to the idea that there may be too many Sophias in every class, Baby Center editor-in-chief Linda Murray told Yahoo Parenting. Sophia and Jackson are the reigning baby names again this year, holding the top spot for the sixth and third year in a row, respectively. Interestingly, Sophia, and its variation Sofia, was also named the most popular baby name in the world this year. Murray, of Baby Center, agreed. According to baby name expert Laura Wattenberg, this is because the name is easy to pronounce and crosses so many languages and cultures.
