Minister Lena Metlege Diab and Mohammad Taraf Al-Habash

Almasa Sulaiman: Blog replay of family arrival First and foremost, they want to thank those that welcomed them, according to The Chronicle Herald. It was the best welcome that they could have ever received, Al-Habash, 36, said through provincial Immigration Minister Lena Metlege Diab, who acted as an interpreter. Mohammad Taraf Al-Habash, his wife, Almasa Sulaiman, and their young children, Nada, 5, and her brother, Taimullah, 4, were met at Halifax Stanfield International airport by a throng of media, supporters and curious onlookers. He also thanked the Canadian people for agreeing to bring them here, as his children giggled while waving Canadian and Nova Scotia flags. The first people the family were introduced to were Chris Yetman and Sister Yvonne Pothier, members of the church group from the Saint Benedict Parish in Clayton Park that sponsored them. As they made their way to the baggage carousel, Al-Habash refused to leave until he personally thanked and shook the hands of everyone who was there to greet them. (www.immigrantscanada.com).
