Christmas Turkey and Peace on Earth

: Sometimes I think this would be the best present we could give ourselves, but my thought is quickly displaced by thoughts of the Christmas turkey, the shopping and, especially, what gifts am I going to receive Peace on Earth, according to The Chronicle Herald. Is this an impossible statement I have heard it so many times that to me it has become an almost inane sentiment. I wish it could be true. In this world we live in, is it possible to live peacefully together as neighbours, to care for, to support, to give encouragement, to share our wealth, to know the other side of the coin I really don’t know. Greed, intolerance, power, control, pain, loss, subjugation, starvation and death are the words that signify the sad and terrifying world many live in today. In this technological age of speedy communication, we have access to almost instant reporting by radio, television, newspapers and social media, and the majority of news deals with wars that seem to be taking place everywhere, giving truth to a lack of peace all over the planet.
