: Their ordeal may have taken a toll on Andre, 46, and Sara, 44, according to Toronto Star. But Andre face lit up when he remembered getting the call that told him he could bring his family to Canada. Seated in a downtown coffee shop, the effects of their long journey from war-ravaged Syria still hadn’t worn off. It was a very beautiful feeling, he said, speaking through a translator, his face breaking into a warm smile. They fled Syria over 2 ½ years ago, and had been living in an apartment in Amman, Jordan when the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees gave them the option of settling in Canada or the U.S. Andre said the decision was a no-brainer. The couple and their three sons arrived in Toronto on Nov. 17, and are among the first to reach Canada as part of Ottawa effort to take in 25,000 Syrian refugees by the end of February.
