Developing Country and Lester Pearson

Syrian refugees: Egypt is a developing country that is a regional Arab neighbour to Syria and hosts more than 200,000 Syrian refugees, according to The Chronicle Herald. Germany aims to take 800,000 and Turkey already has more than two million refugees. I am an immigrant from Egypt, which has had historical peacekeeping ties to Canada since 1957 when Lester Pearson established a resolution to end the Suez Canal crisis by proposing an international peacekeeping force that then earned him the Nobel Peace Prize. Given our history, ability, capacity and resources in Canada, I believe we can host far more than the proposed 10,000 to 25,000, depending on what party line you support. It our moral responsibility toward the world. We can do better, we can do more and we should act now. (www.immigrantscanada.com). As reported in the news.
