Lisa Mac Donald: McGregor story notes the appointments include several failed Tory candidates, and other media outlets have pointed out ties between the appointees and the current government, according to The Chronicle Herald. The Nova Scotia appointees include New Glasgow chief administrative officer Lisa Mac Donald, one of five appointments to the board of directors of the National Capital Commission, a Crown corporation that administers Ottawa federally owned lands and buildings. As reported by Postmedia Glen McGregor, the new appointments fill federal boards and panels in the lead-up to the fall election, and include appointments to bodies such as the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada, the National Capital Commission and the Canadian Human Rights Commission, as well as judicial appointments. Appraiser Paul Young, a member of the Dartmouth firm Kempton Appraisals, was appointed to the payments in lieu of taxes dispute advisory panel for a three-year term. Robert M. Gregan of Amherst was appointed to be a judge of the Nova Scotia Supreme Court , and a judge ex officio of the Nova Scotia Court of Appeal. The panel mandate is to give advice to the public works and government services minister on disputes surrounding federal property.
