Romero House: It took the grassroots group more than a year of tireless fundraising to make that possible, according to Toronto Star. World Refugee Day honours the strength and resilience of refugees, TFOR volunteer Felisa Ponce said to the guests at Saturday dinner — itself a fundraiser — at the Romero House refugee shelter. The traditional Eritrean meal she made Saturday was special for the volunteers and supporters of the Toronto Friends of Refugees , who brought her to Canada last year under Ottawa refugee resettlement program.
