Since 2009, the Commissioner of Official Languages’ Award of Excellence – Promotion of Linguistic Duality has been given to an individual or organization that is not subject to the Official Languages Act but that has made an outstanding contribution to the promotion of linguistic duality in Canada or abroad, or to the development of Canada official language minority communities.
