national parks: This project would destroy part of that environment, negatively impact the flora and fauna of the area and detract from the natural beauty of that part of the highlands, according to The Chronicle Herald. Funding for this project is from a private individual. I am strongly opposed to this project for the following reasons: National Parks are intended for the protection and preservation of the natural environment. This amounts to selling part of the national park at a time when the budgets for national parks have been so heavily cut that parks are forced to close for parts of the year. The proposed monument is massive and ostentatious and completely out of context with the natural environment and the history and culture of the peoples of the north highlands.
