The 17-year-old travels from the outskirts of Scarborough to Wexford every day for school, and several times a week she heads downtown for shifts at a part-time job she works. But when the Star asked them to get creative and illustrate our Divided City series, looking at issues that separate Toronto, they rustled up innovative pieces using the paper and their own lives as inspiration. I’ve waited ridiculous amounts of time for buses, she says. That why she illustrated the Divided City series with a watercolour and salt painting of a freezing, young girl awaiting a bus that won’t be arriving for awhile.
