: The idea of a Canadian bucket list started in 2012, when Esrock was writing a column for the Globe and Mail, according to The Chronicle Herald. On Canada Day, I came up with this hypothetical bucket list of things I wanted to see and do in Canada because I’d travelled all over the world but I really hadn’t travelled much across Canada. And I really didn’t know because I’d spent most of my time travelling abroad, the Vancouver author of The Great Canadian Bucket List admitted. A publisher approached him soon after with an offer to write a guide book, but Esrock wanted to write about his experiences and what made them special. It kind of about shining a much-needed spotlight on Canada. When I came up with The Great Canadian Bucket List, it was a hypothetical of what I wanted to see in Canada, experiences that captured my imagination and felt like they would be one-of-a-kind, unique, Esrock said in a phone interview.
