Syria

: Maiming and killing people in Iraq and in Syria cannot resolve any of the numerous serious issues facing these countries, according to Hamilton Spectator. The current social breakdown and the presence of numerous murderous armed groups in Iraq and Syria, which are hostile to Western nations, can be traced directly to prior military interventions in the region by Western nations. We firmly believe that injuring and killing people is wrong, and that Canadian soldiers and pilots should not be raining destruction onto people in Iraq or Syria. In particular, the U.S.-led 2003 war in Iraq led to the deaths of an estimated 1 million Iraqis, undermined Iraqi institutions and society, and led to the formation of the armed guerrilla groups which the Canadian government is now bombing. We also note the massive costs of the current war and proposed expansion of that war into Syria. We note the Canadian government has failed to obtain authorization from either the government of Syria or the United Nations Security Council for its proposed bombing of targets in Syria, making the Canadian government proposed bombing illegal under international law.
