After that, Jordan increased its participation in the military campaign against ISIL and is now one of several countries, along with Canada, conducting bombing raids in Syria. The two leaders also exchanged condolences on their respective military losses in the fight against ISIL, with Harper calling the February death of a Jordanian pilot "an outrage that really helped to, unfortunately, underscore the terrible nature of this opponent and why it must be dealt with."
