Canadian Cancer Society Daffodil Month and Royal Canadian Legion

Ontario high school student: He put in about eight times that amount, most of those as a cadet and as a Royal Canadian Legion volunteer, according to Guelph Mercury. Fleming was a natural fit to lead a charge Friday at his school to get fellow students pumped about volunteering their time. The 17-year-old College Heights Secondary School student is required to log 40 hours of community volunteerism to get his diploma, like any Ontario high school student. Doing so, Fleming and a pair of Ontario ministers said during an event at the school, changes lives, makes the world a better place, and puts young people on a path to become good citizens. The school is focusing its volunteer efforts on raising awareness during the Canadian Cancer Society Daffodil Month, but Fleming, Sandals and others said there are dozens of ways students can lend their time to make a difference in the community. Ontario Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and International Trade Michael Chan, along with Liz Sandals, Guelph MPP and Minister of Education, were at the high school Friday to launch the 8th annual Change TheWorld – Ontario Youth Volunteer Challenge.
