Canada: The Star is surely the only paper in Canada where his columns would have been printed, year after year, according to Toronto Star. Siddiqui is a shining light of intellect, objective analysis, fairness and decency in Canadian journalism. His column was, for me, one of the highlights of the paper. Having fairly often read the Calgary Herald and Edmonton Journal while in Alberta, and occasionally reading the National Post , it is clear that these papers do NOT have an even remotely objective view of Middle East affairs, matters of terrorism and politics in general. Reading the Star upon returning from a trip to Alberta, I often wondered if there is an alternative reality being promulgated by Postmedia papers. The preponderance of newspapers in Canada, in case anybody doesn’t know, are owned by Post Media.
