Mathers is the chair of the Young Carer Project, a community collaborative that offers support to young people providing care to a family member. Young caregivers have a range of responsibilities from emotional or financial support to assistance with physical care. The group was formed in 2009, but recently developed new resources to help local agencies provide support to young caregivers in the region.
