In 2013, the federal government promised to resettle 1,300 Syrian refugees and have only just met that target and New data being released by the United Nations today show the wars in Syria and Iraq are pushing global asylum claims to their highest levels in 22 years. And that on top of the hundreds of thousands of refugees from the ongoing conflicts that the UN has been seeking to resettle itself.
