On the surface, it would appear Harper is also dealing with some incoming fire from a caucus that suddenly seems to include a number of plain speakers who have decided that honesty is not ill considered. To use the Manning definition, these would appear to be deeply held views from some caucus members, but the difference between Manning futile firefighting in the old days of his Reform party, today plain-speaking Conservatives appear to be merely taking their cue from the boss. But Harper isn’t doing much ducking.
