Public Consultation

public consultation: Now, if you haven t been back in a while, better be prepared to have your head spin and we don t just mean by the glittering new library, according to The Chronicle Herald. All of the action isn t in the city core. Overall, 55 projects are afoot, seeking approval or undergoing public consultation throughout the municipality. And that figure doesn t even include the four major subdivisions that have been OK d or the five others at the public consultation stage and Halifax used to be one of those places that never seemed to change, one of those small, frozen-in-aspic colonial cities where a person could leave for a decade and return comfortable in the knowledge that the landscape would be by and large the same. Cranes, big holes in the ground and the bare bones of new buildings suddenly seem to be everywhere in the municipality, which, in the previous 20 years, completed exactly one downtown construction project but now has more than 30 in some fashion underway.
