Ghyslain Saliboko: Ghyslain and Jasmin left their village of Kasenga, Uvira and travelled to a village roughly three to four hours away awaiting word from their missing children. After staying for a month, the Salibokos were relocated to a missionary compound, according to CTV. They had been dropped off at the Toronto airport, and then they were driven for three days across country, explains Nicole Chernish, administrator with Southwood United Church. They had no idea who the person was that was driving them, where they were going, or what was happening and After their home village was attacked by rival tribes on June 6, 2014, Ghyslain Saliboko and his pregnant wife Jasmin fled the region. The bloodshed claimed the life of Ghyslain father and separated the couple from their four children. The Salibokos received assistance with travel arrangements and arrived on Canadian soil with only a small suitcase and no knowledge of the English language.
