black history: In the meantime, here in Canada, some people don't even know the history of their own towns and cities because we are mainly taught U.S. history. Does the history of the former slaves who fled the U.S. and landed in Halifax as refugees ever get told? , according to NOW Magazine. Recently, some black musicians have riffed about feeling that music genres like blues and rock have become white-dominated and stripped of their authentic cultural roots. But I think what really changed is that the power has shifted back in the direction of artists as opposed to label owners , and black ones can be just as conniving and manipulative.
