Mount Allison University: The Purdy Crawford Centre for the Arts was officially opened at Mount Allison University in Sackville, N.B., on Friday, the same day Crawfords biography, Fire in the Belly, by Gordon Pitts, was launched at the university, according to The Chronicle Herald. This guy was tremendously influential, and it was a story that people really didnt know, said Pitts, a retired business columnist with the Globe and Mail and an author who struck up a lasting friendship with Crawford about a dozen years ago and Hes acclaimed as the man who saved Canada. And there will be a farewell service Saturday at 2 p.m. for Crawford at the Peniel United Church in Five Islands, the tiny Colchester County community where Crawford was born Nov. 7, 1931. He died Aug. 12 in Toronto.
