Bluenose II rudder: In this age of fabulous technology, I am having great difficulty in understanding how our Bluenose II rudder problems ever happened in the first place. Steel too heavy, wood too flimsy.... This should have been identified early in the project. I m no engineer, but what was wrong with carbon fibre stronger than steel and a fraction the weight or some other space-age material? Seems an easy fix to me.
