Premier Stephen McNeil: If Nova Scotias new immigration strategy is to be successful, Premier Stephen McNeil says the province must be as welcoming as possible. A good place to start, he said, would be to do away with the pejorative term Come from Away, according to The Chronicle Herald. The premiers coalition on the Ivany report had its first meeting last week and another is scheduled for June 2. From there, the premiers committee on immigration will be formed and get to work on building a strategy. Theres already work happening behind the scenes involving the province, private sector, universities and federal government, he said and I think we should start right now, McNeil said following his weekly cabinet meeting on Thursday.
