1994 Genocide in Rwanda and Quebec Court of Appeal

Quebec Court of Appeal: Desire Munyaneza, the first person ever to be convicted under Canada war-crimes act, was initially found guilty in 2009 for acts committed during the 1994 genocide in Rwanda, according to CTV. Munyaneza was a former Rwandan militia commander who fled the country in 1997, coming to Canada under a fake Cameroon passport and claiming refugee status and Quebec Court of Appeal has upheld a guilty verdict for a man sentenced to life in prison for committing war crimes.
